Installation & sign-in
- Access is currently by invitation. Contact support for the test package and an invitation code. The Chrome Web Store installation link will appear on the product page after publication.
- After installation, open the EnglishHelper side panel on an English YouTube video and sign in. The website and extension require separate sign-ins.
- Use the same cloud account. Older local builds connect to a service on your computer and cannot use cloud accounts directly. Contact support for the cloud build if needed.
If sign-in still fails, send support the exact error.
Missing captions or failed analysis
Refresh the YouTube video page, check that English captions are available, and try again. You can also open YouTube’s transcript and select English, or import an SRT / VTT subtitle file in the extension.
Some videos lack English captions or are subject to platform access restrictions. A playable video is not always readable or transcribable. For an analysis error, send support the error text and video link; you do not need to supply the system’s model API key.
Notebook & replaying context
Save an expression to Notebook to keep its meaning, original sentence and video timestamp together. Click the entry or its replay action to start a few seconds before the sentence. If the source video is already open, EnglishHelper uses that tab when available.
Mark familiar expressions as known to help filter later recommendations. You can remove an expression from the known list if marked by mistake. Font size is adjustable in the extension’s learning settings.
Practise your own sentences
Enter an English sentence in a Notebook entry’s practice area and submit it for AI feedback. Type directly, use your computer’s dictation, or turn speech into text with your own external Whisper tool.
No recording inside the extension is needed. Review and edit transcribed text before submitting, then choose “Try again” to repeat. AI suggestions and translations can be inaccurate; check the original context.
Export, deletion & privacy
Use Notebook’s export action to export learning records, or remove individual notes using their remove action. Uninstalling the extension does not delete your cloud account or learning data.
